Following previous events of the same working group over the last couple of years, this workshop aimed to discuss and wrap up the outcomes from the past work, and organise the continuation and deepening of future work on Citizen Science (CS) in support to policy-making. The latter will include the comparison of different approaches with regard to strategies and platforms dedicated to Citizen Science throughout Europe.
The ultimate goal of the workshop was to identify benefits, challenges and recommendations from a large number of different stakeholders (from the scientific, policy and citizens perspectives) - with a view to improve developments, promoting and accelerating the use of Citizens Science for (environment-related) policy making throughout Europe.

In this workshop, the key synergies between Citizen Science and Open Science as well as potential barriers were identified and solution for overcoming have been formulated.
At European level, the Green/White paper rolls out a strategy for a substantial increase of citizen science. In a first meeting, some kind of mapping exercise was foreseen.
