Practical information: Travel
Traveling to Uherské Hradiště
Traveling to Uherské Hradiště is most comfortable using the combination of plain and train. It is recommended to use the Vienna International Airport (Schwechat) and buy a train ticket from Wien Hauptbahnhof to Uherské Hradiště. In the airport, take a train to Wien Hauptbahnhof (S-Bahn), the interval is about 30 minutes (do not take the CAT train, it would take you to the city center and not to the main train station). In the Wien Hauptbahnhof, take a train to Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště. There is a direct train to Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště (recommended) or with a transfer in Břeclav. There is a connecting train from Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště to Uherské Hradiště (one stop, 10 minutes) or you can use bus (about 10 CZK) or taxi (about 200 CZK).
There are, however, other international airports. The Czech main airport – Prague Vaclav Havel airport or Bratislava airport (Slovakia). Alternatively, you can use some smaller nearby international airports in Brno or Ostrava (only with low-cost carriers). All of them have good train/bus connections with Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště/Uherské Hradiště. We recommend flying to Vienna since it is the closest and fastest connection (about 2 and a half hours by train from the airport). For timetables and booking of tickets (it’s recommended to book in advance) see https://www.cd.cz/en/default.htm.
The city of Uherské Hradiště is a compact town and almost everything is accessible due to short walking distance. Nevertheless, there are buses connecting the city center with the city parts.

Uherské Hradiště
Uherské Hradiště is a very nice and old city in the Zlín Region in the Czech Republic, situated in the historical land of Moravia. It is located 23 km southwest of Zlín on the Morava River. It is the capital of the Uherské Hradiště District. The town itself has a population of around 25,000. The agglomeration with the two neighboring towns of Staré Město and Kunovice has over 38,000 people.
The town was founded in 1257 by the Czech King Otakar II. The town is the center of Moravian Slovakia (Slovácko), a region known for its characteristic folklore, music, costumes, traditions and production of wine. The city center is historically preserved (Wikipedia, 2020). For more information, see the official web page of the city (https://www.mesto-uh.cz/).
Accommodation
In Uherské Hradiště there are several very good possibilities of accommodation. Good food and drink (particularly a beer) are slightly cheaper in comparison to most European countries. From the hotels located directly in the city center and very close (short walking distance) to our meeting venue, you can choose via Booking.com or directly from their websites, e.g.:
